December in a Nutshell

At least up until today...

We have a kitten who is claiming every box in the house (before it gets recycled)
A baby who makes a cute gangster elf
Bur he proves he can smile too
A kitten who eats cheap, glittered decorations. There's glitter in the litter box!
Monkey loves his Lego advent calendar
My boys! How I adore them
Monkey proving how smart he is. He spelt Wee Man's name all by his self
Making green cookies on a pj day
 Lookin' cute
 Snow day!

A fuzzy sock sort of day
 A cute sort of day
Chopped off the hair. Bye bye pony tail
 Santa came to town early
Monkey was jumping up and down

 Opening presents at Christmas #1
All three older kids made a gingerbread house
I think they did an awesome job
 Rudolph cupcakes! I adore Rudolph!

And as soon as we have some sun and I have time, I'll share some scrappy related projects.

December Bug Kit

I did not think I was going to like the Christmas Delight line from Little Yellow Bicycle too much. I thought it was pretty, but not me. Man, I was wrong! I love every bit of it. It was a delight to work with in the December kit from The Scrapping Bug. I wish I would have been able to give the kit more time to work with. I was only able to give about 2 hours to this kit. Here's what I came up with:

Tis The Season - This was based on a sketch from WeScrap. I think it turned out pretty cute.

December 25th - Honestly, it's December 24th. We do our present opening Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day, which is for Santa presents and stockings. The snowflakes have fine, clear glitter on them. It's snowing here today so the pretty glitter on the pattern paper and that I put on the snowflakes are not picking up. You'll just have to trust me when I say it's pretty. This one was based on a sketch from the new PageMaps 2 book. Love that book!

Dear Santa - Monkey and Santa from last year. Monkey was so excited to meet Santa.

I still have lots left to this kit. I'll be playing with it again to see what else I can come up with.

Have you got your December Daily ready to go? If I have the time tomorrow, I'll post my first day.

Countdown to December Daily

5 Days

to go until the start of December Daily!

Do you have your album ready yet? I have the base pages ready. Although, ready for me does not include numbering my pages. I want to be free to use whatever page tickles my fancy when I sit down with my daily picture(s). I might pick the page before printing the picture(s) depending on how many I want to print. Some days are just going to be a big picture with a tiny jot of journaling.

I absolutely love this time of the year. I can't wait to record it. I have a list of Christmas activities I want to do with Chase this year. Had to do a list because that's how I roll. I'm such a geek. But at least I know I can add the list somewhere in my December Daily. One of our Christmas activities is taking place this weekend. The Santa Claus parade is this Saturday evening. I figure on a day we have nothing Christmas-y going on, I'll add in the parade pictures.

Don't know what the heck I'm talking about when I say December Daily? Check out Ali Edward's site. I don't know if Ali is the one who started this holiday fave, but she's made it popular. Her albums always turn out amazing. She's an inspiration.

Here I Am!

Life with a two month old and a three year old has kept me busy. If we're not busy with life in general, we're busy with something else. Pre-school, Christmas shopping, doctor appointments, play dates, visits to Grandma's house, etc.
I haven't found the time to finish any scrappy project lately. I have three basic grey calendars on the go (one for my mother, one for my sister and one for myself), a painter tray for my best friend, my December Daily album, a mini album and a layout or two. I have so many ideas right now, I'm just trying to get them down before I forget.

Here's my album (laid flat) for my December Daily.
I love how it turned out. It's a 6x12 canvas album. I stamped and embossed snowflakes. Then I sprayed Studio Calico Apple Jack mist on top. I thought it was going to look horrible because I didn't stamp or emboss very well (I am such a newbie at stamping; I suck), but it gave the album a lot of character. I love it. Can't wait for December!

Photo of the Day

Wee Man; a day short of being 8 weeks old; six days short of being 2 months old; completely melting my heart every single day.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

In one week, just seven short days, this little monkey...

will be starting pre-school.

He couldn't be more excited. He's been asking to go to school since he turned two. Finally, at 3 and a half years old, he can go.
I know it's only twice a week, only 5 hours a day; but that's 10 hours he'll be gone a week. I'm going to miss my monkey man. But I also can't wait to hear all his little stories about school and his new friends.

Quick Post

Just a quick post with a few scrappies to share.

Sweet New Brothers : This layout is a little washed out in the picture. It's nicer in real life. Must have been the lighting when I took it. I adore this layout in real life. The pictures are perfection to me.

Brothers (painter's tray) : I've had this painter's tray for what's seems like forever. I didn't know what I was going to do with it. Until last month.  I knew I wanted to celebrate my boys. Once again, it looks a lot better in real life. It's proudly on display in my living room right now.

You & Me : I love this. There's nothing more I can say about it. I just simply love it.

Whoo Hoo, October!

October is one of my favourite months. I love watching the trees change colours. I love walking on crunchy leaves. I love jumping in little puddles. Yes, at 29 years old, I still jump in puddles. I'm just more choosey when I do my jumping. Normally I just jump around my house when I know I can go inside and change into dry clothes. I love the smells of Autumn that start in October. I love Halloween (although not as much as a lot of people; I just think it's a cute holiday).
I am plotting my yearly Autumn photo shoot now. Starting to think about collecting pumpkins, raking piles of leaves and setting up the hay. We're all so busy this month, I'm hoping I can get it done. If not, I have promised myself I would not get upset and just look forward to next year's photo shoot.

That being said; I scrapped some of the pictures from last year's shoot with the October kit from The Scrapping Bug. This month's kit features Apple Cider from Imaginisce. Such a cute line!

Thanksgiving Card - I've been looking at cards lately to find inspiration for Wee Man's announcements. I'm not really a card maker, so any help I can find is good. I'm hooked on this simple layout for a card. Wee Man's thank you cards are the same; just different papers.

Fall Colours - Steve and Monkey Man hanging out in a leaf pile. These pictures were taken at my parents' house. They live in a tiny village and have a lot of property. Much nicer than our place for these pictures.

I Pick U - Okay, this picture is two years old, but still from my yearly Autumn photo shoot. Love the canvas stickers in this line! Awesome texture and adorable.

My lil Pumpkin - I based this layout on a Saturday sketch from WeScrap. I think it turned out kinda cute. But I think it's the pictures that make this layout. I'm bias there.

Do you know about Ali Edward's December Daily album? Most scrappers do. Ali's announced that she's getting ready for this year's album. I tried to take part last year and didn't get past day 3 or 4. This year I want to change that. I have everything from last year still. Great way to use up all those Christmas supplies I gathered up. I'm not buying any new Christmas stuff this year. I have enough. I'm looking forward to playing along this year. Hope I don't get too caught up in the holiday season.

Until next time...

Swing of Things

I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things here. Wee man has been a joy to have here at home for the past almost three weeks. We're getting to know each other and are starting to fall into a routine. I have found scrap time within this routine. I know it's not going to be a daily thing, but I was happy to get in some scrap time this past weekend. I completed three layouts and a card with the October kit from The Scrapping Bug. I also finished up Wee man's announcement cards. Just need to address the envelopes now. I also finished up a special album for my best friend; which I forgot to take pictures of. I'll try to remember to take pictures of her wedding album when I do that one.

Here are some projects from before Wee man was here that I hadn't taken pictures of...

Crazy Bunch - This one was for a scraplift challenge at WeScrap. Photo credit: Sarah Layfield

Big Boy, Little Sleeps mini album - This mini album has been in the works since March. That's when I started taking pictures of Monkey Man taking naps. I knew I was going to go a mini with them. When I saw these papers, I knew they were perfect for this project.

Have you seen Basic Grey's 2011 calendar kit yet?
I did up three 2010 calendars. One for me, and then one for both my mom and sister. All three of us loved them so much, I'm doing three again this year. I'm just collecting pictures of Wee Man to add to the calendars. I know it's easy to make my own calendar instead of using a kit; but I love Basic Grey. The calendars are lovely and I don't have to spend a fortune trying to buy up the papers and embellishments I want to use. It's all together for me.

Until next time...

5 Days Old

Now I have a real excuse for not blogging. 5 days ago, someone very special decided to make his grand entrance. And grand it was!

My water broke at Babies R Us on September 8th, at 38 weeks into my pregnancy. I drove myself to the hospital. I wasn't feeling anything but kinda gross. Water breaking is not pleasant. I went from feeling nothing to major contractions in minutes, but hours after the water breaking. I almost gave birth sans epidural. Not by choice, but because it took that long to get one. I was asking for one an hour before I got it. Almost right after I got it, I was ready to push. My doctor decided she had time to go get a tea from downstairs. The nurse had me reach down and deliever my own baby in the doctor's absence.

Mr Jasper Daniel was born at 8:23pm on the 8th. He was 7lbs, 12oz and 21" long. He's amost a pound smaller than his big brother.

Jasper is the complete opposit of his big brother. Monkey didn't want to come out; after being induced, I still ended up with a c-section. Jasper, was all too happy to come out and came out fast. Monkey was up all night and slept all day. Jasper, lets me sleep a little at night. Monkey cried loudly and a lot. Jasper makes little kitten-like sounds and only cries when he has a gas bubble or wants to cuddle.
Big brother Monkey has taken to the baby really well. I couldn't have asked for more, We're very happy right now.
Until next time, when I'll hopefully have the announcements done so I can share.

Neglected

I've been neglecting this blog! I've either had no energy to bother posting, or too busy to bother posting. And I can't even promise to be better. With the baby due any day now (two weeks and one day until my due date), I don't know what life with a newborn will be like around here. Plus I'll be getting ready for my best friend's wedding. I have to wait until after Nugget arrives to try on my dress and get it hemmed.
Anyways, a new month is upon us and I had some fun playing with The Scrapping Bug's newest kit. It's full of my all time fave line from Jillibean Soup.

Pre-School Bound  -- My little monkey is starting pre-school this year! He's so excited. Since he won't be starting until November, this was the best I could do right now to show his excitement.

I Wear Glasses -- And not too many people know that I do. I don't wear them often. I wear contacts on an almost daily bases. I'm also known for running around without contacts or glasses too. I can see, just not as well.

The Apple of My Eye -- He really is!

First Day of School -- Not really...This is a picture of Monkey from last September (look at his chubby toddler cheeks! I miss those). He wanted to go to school so bad last year. I promised him once he was potty trained he could go. I'm so glad he'll be starting in a couple of months.

And just because working with the kit got me on a Jillibean Soup kick....I created this one once I was finished.
At 28 -- Just a bunch of facts from when I was 28...A month ago. Ha!

I have two mini albums I completed last month that I will have to take pictures of soon. Hopefully I'll be sharing those soon.
Until next time....

Awaiting Baby Nugget

Blogger has changed the way pictures are uploaded...I don't like it so far. It took me forever to get my pictures on here. It's done now...Hopefully I can get the knack for it.

These last few weeks, months, I have had serious pregnancy brain. If I don't write something down, I simply don't remember. Every little thing needs to be written down. It's a pain in the butt. I came up with a little way to keep me organized during these last few weeks before Nugget is born.

This little book will be a nice addition to Nugget's baby album or keepsake box. Whichever I decide to do for him.
Until next time...
